Antique Clock Restoration
Menim Restorations have been restoring English antique clocks for nearly 40 years now, covering all aspects of horology, mainly for the clock trade. On the movement side of things Menim Restorations undertake full rebuilds including wheel and pinion cutting. If any new components are required, they go to great lengths to use old brass if possible, or failing that, new cast brass of the appropriate composition. Or you may just need a new suspension spring or lines!
With regards to casework Menim Restorations have a very large stock of period timber and veneers, including Walnut, Mahogany and Oak, which always helps with that ‘untouched’ look. They also offer French polishing and traditional beeswax finishing depending on the original finish of the case. Chinese style lacquer work and gilding can also be restored. Dial restoration is also undertaken, painted or brass, including gilding and silvering.
